About PGV

Ancestor Tree uses  PhpGedView (PGV) to host family trees.

PGV (http://PhpGedView.net) is a revolutionary genealogy program that allows you to easily view and edit your genealogy online. PGV has full editing capabilities, privacy functions, can import and export Gedcom files (the standard genealogy data format), and supports multimedia, photos, and documents. PGV simplifies the process of collaborating with others.  Advanced features include research tracking and mapping.  PGV is extensively configurable - you can customize your site as you like.

PGV is a database-driven program. When users view your website, the information comes from the database. When edits are made the database is updated.  Ancestor tree uses an advanced relational database which makes for speedy page loads.  Every Ancestor Tree website has a private database with a unique login and password.

Much more information is available at the FAQ and on the wiki.
